Droidify

Encrypted by the name, this is a non-office Spotify client.

I would love to comment, but I don’t have a premium account, therefore cannot use.

Anybody out there who will lend me their username and password?

Not really worth the shot.

Things I didn’t know about the browser

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

I’m currently running Cyanogen’s stable ROM build, so I’m not sure whether this stuff is stock or not, but….
I just noticed there is a find button in the options menu. So you can search for text.
I also found out (via the mighty web) that cut and paste is just a shift click touch and drag opperation.
Gazooks!

New aerial

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Part of the Cupcake update consisted of a new radio thingy from htc. Not reading up what it was all about and just doing as I was told, the radio update was done.

Well it looks as if the radio update is a corker, as it looks as if I don’t have to run upstairs or go outside to make a phone call.

Or the weather has changed and blowing the radiowaves into the house!

Cupcake

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Tonight I upgraded my G1 with cupcake. Usually there are few updates and there is nothing to write home about, however….

Cupcake has brought the G1 into a proper phone/interface.

It looks slicker, things seem to run quicker and the bluetooth now supports stereo headphones.

Google Latitude not in the UK

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

It turns out that the UK gov has put the brakes on Google Latitude being enabled on my Google phone.

As suspected, after the uproar of Google Street View invading our privacy it is no surprise that Latitude has scared people to know where we are.

Of course anyone who knows me knows where I work and where I live and if I do anything dodgey, I’ll either not take my phone with me or switch it off.

Limited application space

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

The G1 comes with a limited storage space for apps, I forget what it is.

There are a lot of people requesting that the apps be put on the sd card.

Until that happens, I’ve been using Astro to backup any applications I like but rarely use onto the sd card and uninstalling the app from my phone.

It’s a bit of a juggle, but best of a bad situation.

Connecting via wifi

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

It doesn’t make sense to me that I cannot transfer data via ibook and G1. With the Andoid Market and the internet, I couldn’t find anything.

Thinking sideways and wifi running, I downloaded ConnectBot, an SSH connection app. I opened up the remote login on the iBook. I then connected to the IP address of my iBook and BAM I was in. I could search my ibook as if I was running a terminal.

Unfortunately, there is no way to transfer data.

Option 2, is ftp. I downloaded DroidFtp, opened ftp access in the services on the iBook. Punched in the IP address once again and BAM I was in again! This time, file transfer is what the FT in FTP means and files are transfered from my iBook to my G1.

There is a slight bug, in that although the data is there, I have to remount the SDcard for some apps to see the transfered files. There is a file manager Bender, which sees and runs the transfered files. Small problems and solutions I can live with.
